About Founder

Ali—in full, Syed Ali Imran — born October 18 in Karachi, Pakistan, to Syeda Sajida Khatoon and Late Syed Muntisar Raza. His father was a hardworking poultry farmer who ran his own farm on his two-acre plot of land near Karachi. His mother, Syeda Sajida Khatoon, is a housewife who also ran a school. Both of Ali’s parents are descendants of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) so deeply religious and follow path of spirituality, something which is deeply rooted in his family as well.

Ali studied in two schools for passing the matriculation exam. During his school studies, his favorite pastime activities included playing cricket, football, hockey, and reading. After completing his schooling, Ali joined college and completed intermediate by studying medical subjects.

After completing two years of college, he started studying Information Technology and Commerce. He completed two-years diploma in computer science along with graduation in commerce from Karachi University. After graduation, he started studying to become a Chartered Accountant and passed the Foundation examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.

He joined PricewaterHouseCoopers (PWC), namely A. F. Ferguson & Co in Karachi, Pakistan, as an audit trainee and completed his mandatory four years of training. He worked with A.F.Ferguson & Co (PWC) for five and a half years and passed all examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan during this period. During his audit career, he was involved in auditing various organizations as a lead. However, due to the concerns of ethical standards maintained by the firm, he decided to move to the industry in the field of Banking and Finance.

He joined Pakistan Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation and played a pivotal role in setting up the Asset Management Company and worked as Head of Finance of the incorporated Subsidiary. He served there for a period of eight months when he was selected for a role in Banque Saudi Fransi Riyadh. Ali moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia feeling excited to work for a multinational corporation. He looked after the Finance System department of the Bank however, due to personal and professional considerations, he resigned from the service of the bank after serving there for seven months and came back to Pakistan.

On his return, he was hired by Citigroup Pakistan in finance department. Ali remained with Citigroup Pakistan for a period of two years when he was approached by Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Limited to join them. Being unsatisfied with the non-professional behavior of the then chief financial officer, he accepted Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan Limited’s offer and joined them in the finance department.

Consistent with his exceptional talent , hard work and integrity he delivered immaculate performance at work and consequently he was promoted within a period of six months. While he was in active employment with SCB Pakistan he was receiving many employment offers from Pakistan and abroad, and on one such offer, he decided to resign from his service of the bank to embark on a new career. Thus , In accordance with the terms of employment, he tendered his resignation, which was accepted with considerable delay. However, the bank management refused to issue employment-related documents along with the release letter on the pretext of full settlement of his outstanding mortgage loan.

Ali offered to sell his mortgaged property to settle the illegal demand raised by the bank; however, it was turned down. Realising there was no amicable solution available, Ali decided to knock the door of the court and filed a suit against the bank in the High Court of Sindh at Karachi, whereby he demanded his employment-related documents along with the release letter, salary, and compensation for his pain and sufferings. At the moment, the matter is pending adjudication in the Supreme Court of Pakistan and High Court of Sindh at Karachi. In the meantime Ali realised that now he has had enough experience to become an entrepreneur so he decided to start his own business for the betterment of society thus he created Al-Ali Group Holdings.

Right after the litigation with Standard Chartered Bank started Ali started exploring path of spirituality and now it is his way of life. Ali is oldest of his siblings and he likes reading , arts in various form , music , sports and travelling.

We develop business practices which will based on integrity fairness protection and growth for all of us. We will contribute in promoting economic development and improve quality of life by anticipating global trends and continuously staying a half step ahead in the creation of new businesses that address societal issues and needs.
